# Churn and retention

> How much revenue and how many customers you lose each month, and who.

**Churn & retention** shows what you lost, who left, and how it compares month to month. It follows the filters and any breakdown you drilled into.

![The four churn figures, numbered 1 to 4](https://mintcdn.com/one-mrr/q05aXT_0moaoPNhC/images/churn/kpis.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=q05aXT_0moaoPNhC\&q=85\&s=8de2b1d6e9ff0e141c72a462fe315b16)

1. **Lost MRR**: MRR lost to cancellations and downgrades this month so far.
2. **Customer churn**: paying customers who cancelled in the last full month ÷ paying customers at the start of that month.
3. **Revenue churn**: (churn + contraction) ÷ starting MRR, before win-backs. Below it is your **NRR**, net revenue retention.
4. **MRR at risk**: the MRR of customers whose product activity dropped, from [Churn Signals](https://docs.onemrr.dev/churn/churn-signals.md). Select it to open **At risk**.

Under the figures, short summaries link to the customers at risk now and your latest [cancellation feedback](https://docs.onemrr.dev/churn/cancellation-feedback.md).

## Who left

**Recent churn** lists the last 90 days. Switch between **Churned**, **Downgrades** and **Won back**, and sort by **Largest** or **Newest**. Each row shows the plan, the date and how long they paid. Select one for their full history.

## Month by month

**Churn history** charts lost MRR by month, split into churn and contraction. The table below has the last six months: cancellations, customer churn, lost MRR, revenue churn, MRR won back, and NRR.

With **All sources** selected, a second table compares platforms over the last three months.

> [!TIP]
>
> Net revenue retention is (starting MRR + expansion − contraction − churn) ÷ starting MRR. New and returning customers are left out. Above 100% means upgrades outweigh what you lose. See [Retention and cohorts](https://docs.onemrr.dev/churn/retention.md).
